I don’t know why a Republican candidate at the first presidential debate would even think of channeling Barack Obama but if Ramaswamy thought he was going to get away with stealing Obama’s line and not get caught, Chris Christie gave him a rude awakening.
The confrontation happened after the slimy Ramaswamy announced, “I’m the only person on the stage who isn’t bought and paid for, so I can say this: The climate change agenda is a hoax.” He went on to claim that “the reality is, more people are dying of bad climate change policies than they are of actual climate change.”
I’m no fan of Chris Christie, especially since he started off his debate comments by boasting about cutting pension funds. But I almost liked him when he interrupted to say, “I’ve had enough already tonight of a guy who sounds like Chat GPT.” I can't think of a better description of Ramaswamy.
Then Christie made the attack Ramaswamy had all but handed to him: “The last person in one of these debates who stood in the middle of the stage and said, ‘What's a skinny guy with an odd last name doing up here’ was Barack Obama,” Christie said. “And I'm afraid we're dealing with the same type of amateur.”
Ramaswamy almost seemed ready for the attack, though. He said, “Give me a hug, just like you did Obama. And you’ll help elect me just like you did Obama, too.” But I doubt he helped himself with the MAGA GOP by likening himself to Obama in any way.
