ESPN's Max Kellerman To Redskins' Dan Snyder: The Day Will Come When You Change The Name

The Washington Redskins owner has refused to change the nickname of the team and Kellerman told him that the day is coming when he will be forced to.

On Thursday's ESPN's "First Take" new co-host Max Kellerman had a message for Dan Snyder, the owner of the Washington Redskins, that has been involved in a name controversy for several years now.

Kellerman said, “We’re not talking about anyone. We’re talking about a repressed minority group, where there are many people in that group who are offended by the name. Don’t tell me about the etymology, or the origins, or the derivation of the name. The fact is, it has come over time to be used in a pejorative sense.”

He explained that over time the nickname became a "slur" and the dictionary tells us as much.

Snyder refuses to change the name that is offensive to many native Americans, and one reason Kellerman believed for his obstinance is because, " billionaires don't like to be told what to do. They're not used to it."

After the Washington Post poll came out about the "redskins" nickname, Snyder then said "WE WILL NEVER CHANGE THE NAME."

Kellerman pointed to the camera and spoke very clearly and said, "I want to just tell Dan Snyder something. I’m disappointed in you, but I will be proud of you when the day comes, because it’s coming where you will be at the podium announcing the name change. Because that will happen."

I'd say Max Kellerman is off to a good start on his new gig.

South Park did an awesome segment on Snyder's refusal to change the name of the team, making him look like a jack-off in the process.
