It may have taken 40 of living for the world to hear Sharon Jones on a record, but when they did, people's ear perked up and listened.

Since 2002, Sharon's naturally soulful voice, backed by the always funky and groovy Dap Kings, was the centerpiece of 5 studio albums, a retrospective, a Christmas album, a movie soundtrack and a ton of 7inch singles.

Pancreatic cancer took Sharon's life at the age of 60 this past Friday. Her voice will live on.
