The father of a victim of the Parkland massacre that Rep. Matt Gaetz accosted at a hearing for a gun safety committee hearing and went on MSNBC and bashed the Florida Congressman for being a "comedian" and a "salesperson" for Trump's wall that wouldn't have saved his son.
Yesterday, Rep. Gaetz, who made a complete fool of himself for ranting about building Trump's wall at said gun hearing and then tried to get Mr. Oliver kicked out because he reacted to Gaetz' insufferable bullsh*t.
The Morning Joe crew interviewed Manuel Oliver, father of slain Parkland student Joaquin Oliver, who shared his account.
"I had no idea who this person was before yesterday. [Matt Gaetz] is a salesperson from the Republican party that becomes part of the commission and the reason why I call him a salesperson is because he’s selling a project that has no relationship at all to what the discussion was about."
Oliver continued, “This person came in here trying to solve the problem with the argument that we need a wall. We’re discussing gun violence in this room and how are we going to end with this epidemic.”
"And the member of this commission should be qualified to understand our concerns -- there are young people trying to stay alive .. .it was very offensive that the only side of the story that seems to bother them is the wall that seems to be the solution all of our problems," explaining why he reacted so strongly to Gaetz.
"And then he pointed at me like that And you don’t point at me like that," he said. "And then he tried to get me out of the room. And you don’t do that. You don’t get me out of any room. I’ll get you out of that room as soon as I have the chance to vote for someone else.”
"I just reacted as a father."
Mike Barnicle asked him how it felt to deal with a member of Congress like that after suffering the type of loss no parent can imagine. “How do you deal with something as irrational as that coming from an elected official?"
He said he watched Trump's SOTU and didn't understand why "some deaths are more important than others."
“You know who’s an immigrant? I’m an immigrant. My son came from Venezuela. I was trying to find a safer life here. He got shot by an American white dude so what's the answer to that?”
Rep. Gaetz should burn in hell.
