Ron DeSantis reminds me of one of those movie villains who tickles little kids under the chin while giggling evilly just before doing some unspeakably evil thing. He hates everyone: LGBTQIA, immigrants, school teachers and Democrats.

Now that he is governor of Florida, he's been hard at work putting his hate to work. Don't be fooled by the supposed rivalry between DeSantis and Trump -- they're cut from the same cloth.

Let's begin with his help trafficking migrants from the Texas border to Martha's Vineyard, Washington D.C., and other cold, miserable places with nothing other than the clothes on their backs so he could make a point and tickle the likes of Ginni Thomas, another crookie in her own right. (Ginni has been a long opponent of any immigration reform that might allow brown and Black folks to come into this country).

But there's more. There's always more. Not content to subject migrants seeking asylum to the miserable conditions of a northeastern winter, DeSantis went after teachers and textbooks with his complaints about "woke math."

"We recently had these reviews, that the Department of Education was doing in Florida and these math books, they were doing woke math." DeSantis said without explaining himself. "And I'm just thinking to myself like, 2+2 equals 4, it's not 2+2 equals well how do you feel about that. Is that an injustice? No. We gotta teach the kids to get the right answer."

"Woke math."

Let's not leave out his campaign against drag queens. For DeSantis, it was very important to make sure everyone in Florida hates drag queens as much as he does. As John Amato observed:

It used to be just the creeps from Focus on the Family and Pat Robertson's crew that relentlessly attacked the gay community, but now odious bigotry is being transmitted to the highest political offices controlled by Republicans.

Enter Ron DeSantis.

Republicans are considering forming a 'parents police' and if a family does not conform to fit their culture war memes, then they will try and remove your child from your care. Fascism rules the roost.

Yes, indeed. Fascism is back in fashion, and Ron DeSantis is modeling the latest forms. The Florida "Don't Say Gay" law was designed to do as much harm as possible to teachers and the students who are struggling with their sexuality. No matter to DeSantis. He's laughing all the way to the culture war battlefields. Not only had you better not say gay, you'd also best not mention Hanukkah in front of Florida's little Christian darlings.

And of course, DeSantis, who encouraged Floridians to get vaccinated and then go out and party like it was 2019 on Florida beaches during spring break, is now forming an anti-CDC commission so he can spread lies and fear in Florida. It's how fascists operate.

In 2023, we expect him to continue on with his migrant trafficking while he fights the culture wars on his way to the Republican nomination in 2024. The country is about to discover what an odious person he is, while getting an up close and personal look at Republican fascism.
