After another mass shooting with multiple casualties, this time in a bank building in downtown Louisville, Kentucky, Republicans are scrambling to hold off calls for gun safety in the only country in the world with more civilian-owned firearms than people. But conservatives want more guns even though innocent people are being slaughtered. And they want more guns even though U.S. gun owners already possess 393.3 million weapons.

The week before the Louisville shooting, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) posted a meme that read, "When you go to the bank and you deposit money in the bank, there are armed police officers at the bank. Why? Because we want to protect the money we save. Why on earth do we protect a stupid deposit more than our children?"

"We have an opportunity right now to double the police officers on campus and keep kids safe," the statement continued.

Bad timing. The Lousiville shooting happened in a bank before it opened, possibly by a disgruntled employee. He had an AR-15 that he had bought legally.

Gun rights advocate John Lott is saying the opposite of what Cruz said. It was a gun-free zone, so let's not do anything about gun violence in the U.S.

Here's Rep. Thomas Massie with the gun-free zone bullshit, too.

The trend of gun purchases has been increasing during the last few years. How many guns would Republicans like us to have before we can say enough? Conservatives demean teachers and criticize their morals, but they're OK with them being armed in the classroom.

Enough.
