Attention space nerds! The Lucy mission is the first mission to explore the Jupiter Trojan asteroids, ancient clusters of asteroid “fossils” that orbit around the Sun at the same distance as Jupiter. To reach them, the Lucy spacecraft’s trajectory includes three gravity assist spins around the Earth give it the extra, gravity assist boosts it needs to send it on its way.

And being a generous craft, Lucy was good enough to snap these evocative pictures of the Earth and the Moon as it passed by.
