Kaufman and Morrie Ryskind's musical political satire "Of Thee I Sing" opened at the Music Box Theatre, NYC; ran for 441 performances, and became first musical to win Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The immortal Ella Fitzgerald sings the titular song.
